Game Developers Choice Awards Finalists Announced
Organisers of the 11th Game Developers Choice Awards have announced the finalists in 10 different categories ahead of the award ceremony next month.
Leading the charge is Limbo, Playdead Studios’ debut which was released last July on Xbox Live Arcade. It is the most-nominated game, shortlisted in seven of 10 categories.
Rockstar’s Western opus Red Dead Redemption has six nominations, with the Bioware-developed sci-fi epic Mass Effect 2 on the shortlist for five awards.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Costume Quest, God Of War III, Minecraft, Heavy Rain, Monday Night Combat and Super Meat Boy also receive multiple nominations.
Finalists were decided by an open round of voting from game industry professionals. Winners will now be chosen by the 500-strong panel of leading developers, the International Choice Awards Network (ICAN).
Winners will be announced at the Game Developers Choice awards ceremony on March 2 as part of the Game Developers Conference 2011, which runs from February 28 to March 4 at the Moscone Center, San Francisco.
