France-based publisher Gameloft has reported a first quarter sales increase of 22 percent.
First quarter 2009 sales hit €30.8 million, compared to €25.3 million for the same period a year earlier, with mobile titles accounting for 94 percent of total sales.
The North America market generated 37 percent of total sales, Europe 35 percent, and the rest of the world 29 percent.
“Mobile game sales increased by 21 percent over the first quarter, due in part to the strong performance of Gameloft games on Apple's iPhone, but also to solid sales performance of games for Java and Brew phones,” said Gameloft, which also makes downloadable titles for consoles.
The publisher added that it expects to grow its revenues and to improve its profitability in 2009.
