Games Convention Online Draws 43,000 Attendees

Organiser Leipziger Messe hails ìsuccessful" debut of browser, client and mobile games fair.

Over 43,000 people attended the first Games Convention Online event, according to organiser Leipziger Messe.

The three-day Leipzig, Germany-based browser, client and mobile games fair featured 74 exhibitors showcasing 150 games, and much of its content was made available online, attracting 500,000 visits to the event's website.

“90 per cent of the visitors were online gamers, which means that we reached just the target group the sector was expecting,” said Wolfgang Marzin, chairman of the board at the Leipzig Trade Fair.

An exhibitor survey launched by the Institute for Market Research during the fair found that around 90 per cent of exhibitors said they intended to attend next year’s show.

“Our exhibitors were very satisfied with the visitor structure, which has laid the foundation for Games Convention Online. Everything for GCO 2010 is headed for growth,” added Marzin.

Leipziger Messe switched its focus to Games Convention Online following the cancellation of the ?2009? ?Games Convention earlier this year.
