Angry Birds and Rock Band 3 have been nominated for the Interactive award at the "Oscars of design", the Brit Insurance Design Awards 2011.
The two games are among 15 nominees for the award, which will be presented at a ceremony at London’s Design Museum on March 15. Nominees will be exhibited at the Design Museum from February 16 to August 7.
Rovio Mobile’s Angry Birds is the poster child of smartphone gaming. Since its release in 2009 it has been downloaded more than 75 million times, and was fourth on the all-time App Store charts Apple released last month.
Rock Band 3, developer Harmonix’s final release in the series before returning to independent status just before Christmas, is widely regarded as the high point of the music game genre. We described it as “simply magnificent” and awarded it 10 out of 10 last year.
