Gamescom Drew 254,000 Attendees

German publisher association says trade fair surpassed expectations; 2011 event dates confirmed.

Gamescom 2010 attracted 254,000 visitors, beating the inaugural show’s 245,000 and making it “the largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games”, according to organisers.

Held in Cologne last week alongside GDC Europe, Gamescom featured 505 exhibitors from 33 countries, up from 458 last year, while the developer conference boasted 1,500 participants and 170 speakers.

"gamescom 2010 surpassed our expectations and provided new momentum for growth,” said Olaf Wolters, managing director of the German Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU). “We are already looking forward to a successful continuation next year."

Gamescom 2011 will take place in Cologne from August 17-21, 2011.
