Nineties TV show GamesMaster could be set to make a return as Future Publishing says it's “exploring the potential for reviving the brand on TV screens”.
The first-ever UK TV show dedicated to games aired on Channel 4 from 1992 to 1998. Dominik Diamond usually presented, with Sir Patrick Moore appearing in pre-recorded inserts as the 'GamesMaster'.
The news comes as Future confirmed plans to launch a range of cross platform activity to boost its multi-format GamesMaster brand.
GamesMaster magazine will unveil its first extensive redesign for six years this May, promising to reflect the way gamers are playing in 2010 with an increased focus on the growing importance of online and on-console communities.
"GamesMaster is a key gaming brand for Future and there are some fantastic opportunities to expand its reach and influence beyond the magazine,” said Simon Maxwell, group publisher of Future's console and online portfolio.
“This year, we'll bring a comprehensively redesigned GamesMaster magazine to market, develop an online presence through our existing sites, and explore the appetite for bringing the show back to TV."
