GameStop Accused Of Storing Personal Information
A class action complaint has been filed against US retailer GameStop after a California resident claimed her local store kept details on her, including credit card details and name. The complainant claims that the US retail giant uses details taken during the transactions to access additional personal information, such as residential addresses.
The suit sets out the complaint: "Defendants’ employee made no attempt to erase, strikeout, eliminate, or otherwise delete Plaintiff’s personal identification information from the electronic cash register after the Plaintiff’s credit card number was recorded." The suit asks the court to prevent GameStop from requesting and recording customer information, and that any affected parties be compensated.
