Think Services’ Game Group has partnered with Reboot Communications to create Game Developers Conference (GDC) Canada, with the first event to be held in association with New Media BC’s Vancouver Digital Week in May 2009.
The creation of GDC Canada reflects the region’s growing role in the international game development landscape, according to the groups, which said that the conference will provide opportunities for critical information exchange, creating connections and stimulating creativity. The event will also feature perspectives on cross-discipline and cross-platform content, with an eye to serving the Canadian games business sector.
“GDC’s strength is in its ability to translate its core values to provide both global and local relevance,” said Kathy Schoback, executive vice president of Global Events, Think Services. “We are incredibly excited to partner with Reboot and New Media BC on GDC Canada, which will serve the regional development community with conference content designed to engender learning, networking and inspiration.”
GDC Canada will take place during Vancouver Digital Week, described by organizer New Media BC as “an immersive week of innovative programming and partnership opportunities for the digital media industry”, featuring business match-making, conference sessions, seminars and networking parties.
“Bringing the globally respected GDC brand to the Vancouver digital media community will help to enhance business relations and learning quality for our region’s developers,” said New Media BC president Kenton Low. “Vancouver Digital Week will be even more compelling with the addition of GDC Canada.”
