Gearbox Takes Over Duke Nukem Forever Development?

Sources told Kotaku that the Brothers In Arms and Aliens: Colonial Marines studio picked up Duke Nukem Forever development where former maker 3D Realms left off, and that a playable demo may be available before the end of the year.

Publisher Take-Two has reportedly enlisted Borderlands maker Gearbox Software to finish work on 3D Realms’ long in development Duke Nukem Forever.

Sources told Kotaku that the Brothers In Arms and Aliens: Colonial Marines studio picked up Duke Nukem Forever development where former maker 3D Realms left off, and that a playable demo may be available before the end of the year.

Take-Two, which launched legal action against 3D Realms for failing to complete Duke Nukem Forever, still holds publishing rights to the title, but wouldn’t comment on its development status.

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford also declined to comment, but told the site that he may be able to better clarify the situation at the Penny Arcade Expo next month.
