No More Heroes house Grasshopper Manufacture is the latest dev to announce the licensing of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3.

The unannounced survival horror game, published by Electronic Arts, is under direction Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51, the mastermind behind the highly-stylized No More Heroes and Killer 7.

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is the producer.

Suda51 said in a press statement, "The innovative tools and technology in Unreal Engine 3 help developers create games faster, easier and with less risk.”

What is this "risk" in other engines?

they have to make it themselves. Unreal is very tried and tested and if they use that it's one less thing to think about. Although arguably the game loses some of it's individuality and Unreal engine is unsuitable for some genres, it gives the devs a head start. Making their own engine takes time and thought and money that could go elsewhere. The risk with their own engine is that it might go wrong and totally mess up their development cycle. mmk?

That makes sense :-)
