Gree to set up California studio

Japanese mobile gaming company Gree is opening an office in San Francisco.

The move is designed to snap up Bay Area dev talent ahead of the global launch of a new, worldwide mobile gaming platform in the second quarter of the year. The 41,000 square foot studio will be headed up by Eiji Araki, Gree's senior vice-president of social games.

"Our team is hard at work to deliver best-in-class content," Araki said in a press release. "Our aim is to constantly change the face of mobile social gaming and we know, without a doubt, that San Francisco is the city to find the top talent to build unique games from the ground up for the western market."

CEO Naoki Aoyagi added: "We are thrilled to create this unique and comfortable space to illustrate our commitment to both San Francisco, an international hub of this industry, and our employees.

"Gree is committed to building the leading global mobile social games ecosystem and reaching our goal of having one billion users. We are confident we can make this happen thanks in part to the games coming out of our North American studio, our amazing partners, and the new Gree Platform."

Gree, which revealed earlier this month that profits during the final quarter of 2011 more than trebled year on year, is currently seeking to fill over 80 positions at its new Californian base. For more, follow the source link below.
