The Bungie shooter, which is currently in open beta form and can be played via a copy of Halo ODST, topped the list of 25 games released or being released this year that US gamers intend to buy.
Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Microsoft's Gears of War 3 placed second and third on the first party-dominated list, compiled from the answers of 4000 gamers polled.
The next Legend of Zelda game on Wii followed just behind those - despite there being almost no details known about it - along with Sony's Gran Turismo 5, which has seen a series of long delays and, to date, still no confirmed release.
