Hellgate: London developer Flagship Studios died in August, but its first and only game has limped along.
However, Hellgate publisher Namco Bandai America said Friday that it would finally be shutting down the game's servers at the end of January 2009.
From here until the game's official axing, server support will be free of charge for players.
Hellgate was a promising PC title from Flagship Studios, a development house founded by ex-Blizzard North VP Bill Roper. But a botched launch for Hellgate prevented the title from gaining any traction, eventually leading to the shutdown of Flagship Studios in August.
I personally loved hellgate, sad to see it go, too bad for those people who bought founders lifetime subscriptions!
Good Riddance, Another great example of what happens when to much credit is given to one designer. Bill Roper help create Star raft so everything he touches from now on will turn to gold. How about a game of Daikatana or Blue Dragon anyone?
Need to make some timeless games.
