Hudson Continues Social Restructure
Hudson is continuing its restructuring effort as it shifts focus to social games, trimming its Japanese workforce by offering voluntary redundancy to 40 staff.
Andriasang reports that Konami’s full takeover of Hudson, announced in January, has been approved at a board meeting. Staff who accept voluntary redundancy will be given severance and other bonuses, and given outplacement support to find fresh employment.
As we reported in January, Konami intends to leverage Hudson’s experience in mobile gaming to make further moves into social gaming, following the release of Konami’s Facebook debut, Viva! Mall.
Hudson CEO Michichiro Ishizuka is to step down at the end of the current fiscal year on March 31, with the takeover completing the following day. Hudson’s US arm, Hudson Entertainment, closed last month.
