Indie campaign Because We May launches

Indie developers have grouped together to launch Because We May, a price cut campaign designed to highlight the importance of developers controlling  their own pricing.

"We believe that developers should have the freedom to price their games how they like, without interference from the online stores that sell the games," the official site explains.

"Why? Because it allows us to promote our games more freely, as we are doing here! We rely on the ability to promote our games for our livelihood and control over pricing is an important tool for this purpose."

A huge number of developers have already signed up to the campaign, including Capybara, Tiger Style, Introversion, Team Meat and Double Fine.

The campaign is being spearheaded by 2D Boy co-founder Ron Carmel, and runs May 24 to June 1.
