A new volunteer-based organisation has been launched to promote the interests of small independent development studios.

Indievision was founded by Richard Hill-Whittall as an evolution of his ChaosEdge site, which was originally established to aid Mobigame in its legal fight to restore iPhone game EDGE to the App Store.

In principal the organisation is similar to the IGDA and TIGA but there are no membership fees, said Hill-Whittall.

“During my involvement with ChaosEdge, I thought enough is enough; why is there not a group out there helping indies and offering free information, support and advice to help studio owners build up successful studios and avoid some of the pitfalls and immoral business practices in the industry?”

Studios already “involved” with Indievision include Exient, Relentless, Icon, Proper Games, Four Door Lemon, Digimask and Mobigame, according to Hill-Whittall.
