As expected, Microsoft has announced a series of Xbox 360 related price cuts in Japan.
From September 10, the Xbox 360 Elite will retail for 29,800 yen ($321/£199), down from 39,800 yen. The unit will no longer ship with an HDMI cable.
The price of the 60GB Pro unit, which currently retails for 29,800 yen, will be open to retailers, meaning individual stockists can price it at their discretion. As in the US and Europe, the model is to be discontinued, meaning retailers won’t be receiving any new stock.
Meanwhile, the price of the Arcade model will remain unchanged at 19,800 yen ($214/£132). The 60GB Xbox 360 hard drive and 512MB memory unit will also see price reductions.
Similar price cuts will also come into effect in other parts of the Asia-Pacific region on September 10.
