PlayStation platforms continued their impressive run in Japan during the week ended May 3.

PSP topped the hardware pile, although sales of the handheld were only 400 units greater than those of Nintendo’s DSi.

Having outsold Wii for the past two months running, PS3 was again the bestselling home console, although the gap between the systems narrowed from 5,000 sales the previous week to 2,000.

DS Lite sales increased by 1,200 units, which was enough to see the portable place ahead of Xbox 360 in the weekly rankings, according to Media Create.

PSP – 49,557
DSi – 49,133
PS3 – 23,588
Wii – 21,546
DS Lite – 7,540
Xbox 360 – 7,313
PS2 – 5,479
