Wii managed to hold the hardware sales lead in Japan despite a surge in PSP adoption during the week ended January 3.
Sales of Nintendo’s console were down by more than 50,000 units, to 163,855, while PSP sales rose by almost 30,000 units, to 132,911.
Combined DS sales of around 180,000 units made the platform the most popular overall during the week in question.
PS3 jumped one spot to third on the individual platform rankings with 114,368 units shifted, while Xbox 360 sales were up slightly to 6,878 units.
The news wasn’t good for Sony’s PSPgo, which slipped to the bottom on the sales chart behind the ageing PS2.
