Japan: Wii Sales Hit Eight Million

Wii Sports leads list of top-selling games, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain.

Japanese Wii sales surpassed eight million units as of April 19, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain.

The console has been on sale in the country since December 2, 2006.

A Kotaku translation of the article also shows that Wii Sports, which wasn’t bundled with the system at launch in Japan, is the system’s top-selling title to date.

The top five games, which are all Nintendo published, are listed below with launch dates and sales totals in brackets.

2. Wii Fit (12/1/07 - 3,301,373)
3. Wii Play (12/2/06 - 2,672,811)
4. Mario Kart Wii (4/10/08 - 2,218,756)
5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (1/31/08 - 1,789,924)
