Jon Hare has been appointed head of publishing at Cambridge, UK-based independent games developer and publisher Jagex.
Hare is best known as one of the founders of Sensible Software, which produced a string of hits including Sensible Soccer during the 80s and 90s, before being sold to Codemasters.
In his new role he will have a particular focus on further developing Jagex’s gaming portal FunOrb. Launched last year, the site is "targeted at time-pressed gamers."
Said Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard: “Jon will be playing a very hands-on role, actively engaged in developing and optimising all of our games."
Jagex is also the company behind the popular free-to-play casual MMO Runescape.
I wish Jagex a load of luck with building FunOrb. As a gamer and Java developer in Cambridge, I'd really like to see FunOrb take off.
