EA’s Battlefield 1943 dominated Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network game sales during July.

Its chart success is no surprise, EA having said last month that the title had become the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network download-only game.

The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition, ‘Splosion Man and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 made successful debuts on the XBLA chart during July, while Fat Princess, Namco Museum Essentials and Shatter made the PSN top five.

The XBLA chart data appears to be worldwide, while the PSN data is for North America only, according to GamerBytes.

XBLA has Ikaruga? Awesome, that game rules. But I thought it was a gamecube game. I second that there should be downloadable PS2 games, come on Sony try playin catch up with Microsoft a little better we need an online gameshow and downloadable PS2 games stat. What sort of red tape is there to cut through with old PS1 games anyway? If Sony was the publisher say of a game like Tombi/Tomba where the developer has since closed can they just chuck the ISO on after testing it works sweet with their emulation setup.

Not that it matters been emulating PS1 and PS2 for a while, and this week I just figured out how easy it is to set up your PC using the PS3 controller, no adapter for me :-) Any old P4 system seems fine to emulate PS games. If you got a bangin PC though (I don't) you can get some pretty sweet shader plugins and other goodies to make the games look really nice.

Download ps2 games, I like free hard drive space for expansion packs and such thanks. FFVII done so well I think due to most copys of the game most likey have took a hammering (mine also).

Seeing FFVII in the PSN charts makes you think just how well downloadable PS2 titles would do!

Sony have no excuses, PS2 emulation is almost perfect on the PC at the moment (i'm playing Ico, SMT: Nocturne, etc), with all the resources Sony have they'd be insane not to have downloadable PS2 titles in the near future on the PS3.

PS2 emulation works almost perfectly now on the original PS3. They'll wait until they've exhausted all the good PS1 games then quietly admit they were wrong and re-introduce backward compatibility.

Maybe, but they haven't really started to re-release the PS1 classics in europe yet, let alone PS2 ones. We're still waiting for MGS, Resi, Silent Hill etc. We've had FFVII but that's about it. Very very shabby.
