Sony is to change its corporate structure, a move that will see Kaz Hirai, currently president of Sony Computer Entertainment, promoted.
Andriasang reports that, from the start of the new fiscal year on April 1, Sony will divide its business into two main areas: Consumer Products and Services, and Professional and Device Solutions.
Hirai is to be promoted to vice president of the Consumer Products and Services group, meaning he will be in charge of Sony’s entire consumer electronics business.
The Professional and Device Solutions arm will be led by Horishu Yoshioka, currently executive deputy president of consumer products, professional solutions and devices. Howard Stringer remains in place as Sony CEO.
