Keiji Inafune Forms Two New Companies

Legendary Capcom developer reveals games company Intercept and cross-media Comcept.

Keiji Inafune, former head of development at Japanese publisher Capcom, has finally lifted the lid on his future plans, announcing that he has formed two new companies, Comcept and Intercept.

Andriasang reports that the two firms have differing business models. Intercept is Inafune’s game company, which he calls “my new challenge for consumer game development”. Based in Tokyo, Inafune says the firm’s ethos is driven by three keywords: originality; gravity; and “beyond the age” - games that cross different eras.

Comcept – first revealed in December - has a far broader remit, spanning not only game development but online, mobile, and other entertainment content, as well as books, music, video, events management and consultancy. The firm will have its headquarters in Tokyo, with an office in Osaka. Both companies have initial capital of 10 million yen (£75,000).

Inafune is to hold a press conference, in which he will go into more detail on his plans for both companies, next Monday.
