Kenji Matsubara, former CEO of Japanese publisher Tecmo Koei, is to take up the same role at Zynga Japan.
Andriasang reports that Matsubara, who resigned from Tecmo Koei last November citing personal reasons, will head up the Facebook gaming king’s Japanese arm with effect from May 9, with current Zynga Japan CEO Robert Goldberg staying on in an advisory capacity.
Matsubara was president and COO of Koei and oversaw the 2009 merger with Tecmo, after which he assumed the role of CEO of the newly formed Tecmo Koei. His resignation last year followed a poor run of financial results caused in part by delays and cancellations to various projects after the departure of Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki.
Zynga Japan was formed last year after Japanese media firm Softbank invested $150 million in the FarmVille developer.
