Valve has announced that Left 4 Dead 2 will release on November 17 exclusively for Xbox 360 and PC.

The title will feature new survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items and offer “a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more versus campaigns, and maps for survival mode available at launch,” according to the official press release.

"A large part of how Left 4 Dead became 2008's top-selling new IP on Xbox 360 and the PC was the custom-tailored gameplay made possible by the AI Director," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "With the knowledge gained from creating the original, new technology, and a passionate team, L4D2 will set a new benchmark for cooperative action games."

A trailer of the game was shown at Microsoft’s E3 press conference.

Isn't this just an admission that L4D was too small?

Why not just release a freaking expansion pack for the current one? It's short enough anyway it should be expanded rather than making a sequel that will likely be as short.

Amazing, so soon too. Any news of the next episode of Half-Life, by any chance? No? Well then...

Left 4 Dead 2...already.

No PS3 version still? I guess Gabe really doesn't like the PS3 afterall.

You're right Toad, it has nothing to do with business. The game would have shat itself on the PS3 anyway. 200-300k copies max. Wouldn't have even been worth making the inferior version it would've been anyway (Orange Box anyone?).

Orange Box would've sold better on the PS3 if EA had done a better job porting it. There were too many issues with it, and word got out about them very early on, leading multi-console owners like myself to buy the 360 version instead.

Agreed.
