Limbo confirmed for PSN and Steam

Last year’s Live Arcade hit headed to other platforms, developer Playdead confirms.

Limbo, Danish studio Playdead’s indie hit that was released on Xbox Live Arcade last year, is headed to PlayStation Network and PC.

News broke yesterday that the game, which Playdead had previously said was to remain an Xbox 360 exclusive, was headed to a Sony platform. Sony Computer Entertainment Korea had submitted the game for classification with the Korean Ratings Board.

Limbo is production for Steam and PSN, and is coming very soon,” Playdead CEO and co-founder Dino Patti told us. “I can’t elaborate more at this moment, but we will have more details soon.”

Released last July, Limbo became the first indie game to be shortlisted for a BAFTA, and was the most nominated game in the Game Developers Choice Awards earlier this year.

In February, it won the Indie Game Challenge at the DICE conference in Las Vegas, where it also won the award for achievement in art direction. It was also a runner-up in our own 2010 awards, for audio and visual design.
