The LittleBigPlanet community has created and uploaded over one million levels for the game, Sony said on Wednesday.

That equates to a new user-created level being published roughly every 21 seconds since the PS3 exclusive title launched to widespread critical acclaim late last year.

The levels themselves have been played a total of 244 million times, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog, which also teased a new announcement from LBP developer Media Molecule on August 18, the day that Sony will be holding a three hour press conference at Gamescom in Germany.

I really understimated how profound an effect this game would have. I've seen some levels that have really impressed me. On the flip side there's also a lot of crap but that's to be expected. MM has talked about creating a web-based portal to help in finding good levels which would be fantastic.

TF2 Heavy: SO MUCH CRAP!

The game really needs a better way to sift through all the bad levels. It'd help if the community wasn't so astounded by MIDI "music" levels where you do nothing.
