Mario Kart Powerslides to No1 in UK Chart

Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii overtook fellow Wii blockbuster Wii Fit at the top of the All Formats Chart, moving up two places from No3 following a six percent increase in weekly sales.

Sales of Wii Fit dropped 24 percent, but the title still managed to outpace Sega’s Beijing 2008, which jumped ten places to No3, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, which climbed four spots to No4. Nintendo’s Wii Play rounded off the top five.

Activision’s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was a non-mover at No6, while the publisher’s DS exclusive Guitar Hero: On Tour fell three places to No10. Sandwiched between the pair were Ubisoft’s Soul Calibur IV, THQ’s Big Beach Sports and Nintendo’s Brain Training.
