Microsoft Eyes Social Game Studio CrowdStar

Platform holder reportedly among the companies in talks to buy the fourth largest developer of Facebook applications.

Microsoft is reportedly engaged in talks regarding the potential acquisition of social game developer CrowdStar.

Bloomberg sources indicate that the platform holder is keen to purchase the studio, the fourth-largest developer of applications for Facebook with more than 50.8 million monthly active users, but say a decision on any sale may be weeks away.

It’s also possible that CrowdStar - which may be valued at $200 million - could remain independent, instead opting to seek investment from a private equity firm.
