Microsoft Raising Xbox 360 Forecasts in Japan

Price cuts cause for optimism, but no specifics.

Speaking at TGS today, John Schappert, Microsoft's corporate VP of  online game services and game software, was in bullish mood.

He pointed towards various development partnerships around the world, most particularly in Japan, traditionally a weak-spot for the company. He pointed towards vastly increased sales in Japan and Europe, in the wake of aggressive price-cuts. He reiterated the Microsoft line that developers and publishers seeking a global footprint had to get on board with Xbox 360.

He also said that the company is increasing its internal forecasts for sales of Xbox 360 in Japan, but declined to be specific. Speaking to Reuters he said, "We've done better than we forecast. We are finding that we have a shortage of hardware. We are raising our forecast for Japan."
