DICE’s Mirror’s Edge and Redwood Shores’ Dead Space both passed one million sales last year, according to EA’s well-documented financial report.
During the company's conference call, EA CFO Eric Brown stated that the figures are comprised of all versions of both games; Dead Space was released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, while Mirror's Edge was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008. Mirror’s Edge was released for PC earlier in January, meaning that edition was not accounted for.
Both new IP for the company, EA’s Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge joined Madden NFL 09 and NBA Live 09 as the publisher’s million-plus-sellers in the 2008 calendar year. Brown claimed that Madden 09 was the sixth best-selling title across all platforms in North America for 2008.
As reported earlier, Need for Speed Undercover, FIFA 09 and Littlest Pet Shop fully cleared the million sales mark.
I like how he stupidly threw LBP out there when it now has sold well over 2 million copies what a joke Naroz is .
Mirror's Edge didn't sell anything close to 1 Million units...And neither did Little Big Planet on the PS3.
Oh sure, there may have been stores stupid enough to stock the games, but the fact of the matter is, the number of consumers who "own" the games isn't anything close to 1 Million. As a result, you can expect to see those games sold for $29 in stores relatively soon.
Kenology is 100% correct when he says that Dead Space and Mirror's Edge underperformed. But in all honesty, Mirror's Edge lost all it's popularity once people played the demo and found out that it is a garbage game with poor gameplay.
"Mirror's Edge lost all it's popularity once people played the demo and found out that it is a garbage game with poor gameplay"
Yeah, no. Most people loved the demo, and only had negatives with sections of the actual game.
Even if they underperfomed, it's good to see that ME and DS haven't been total flops. Especially as they were two of my favorite games last year.
For the totally out of place Little Big Planet comment:
Actually it is great game with great gameplay once you realize that it is not a shooter.
Dead Space only sold a little over 1 million titles combined on 3 platforms, and they want to release it for the Wii?
Mirror's Edge and Dead Space really underperformed.
