Activision’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has started the new year as it ended 2009 – atop the UK all formats chart.
The Infinity Ward developed shooter spent an eight consecutive week at the chart summit during the seven days ended January 2, in the process recording the longest unbeaten run at the top since Need For Speed: Underground 2 five years ago.
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II was up one place to second, Sega’s Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games rose two spots to third, while Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus rounded off the top five.
Former bestseller FIFA 10 slipped from second to sixth, one place ahead of Just Dance. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii and Avatar: The Game completed the top ten.
