Just days after Activision Blizzard sold World in Conflict developer Massive Entertainment to Ubisoft, another subsidiary has now been sold.
U.K.-based Monumental Games, makers of the MMO Football Superstars, announced Wednesday the purchase of Swordfish Studios' Manchester location.
Under Vivendi's Sierra Entertainment label, Swordfish was comprised of two U.K. locations, one in Manchester and one in Birmingham. But Swordfish didn't fit in with corporate strategy when Activision and Vivendi merged to form Activision Blizzard, and the studios went on the selling block.
Swordfish Manchester is comprised of 26 developers.
Aside from Football Superstars, Monumental also develops middelware for MMOs and virtual worlds, dubbed the Monumental Technology Suite.
Monumental CEO Rik Alexander said in a statement, "Acquiring the Swordfish business in Manchester gives us the capacity to invest ahead of the curve and to maintain our growth profile throughout next year."
Swordfish head Mike Delves will become part of the Monumental management team.
Monumental also has a development studio in Pune, India.
Update: Corrected facts regarding Swordfish's two separate studios.
