The publisher said Monday that it has shipped 1.8 million units of Mortal Kombat vs. DC worldwide. The game is available on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Midway also said the fighter was the most pre-ordered Mortal Kombat game in the company's history, and globally over 3.6 million Mortal Kombat vs DC matches have been played online for PS3.
Mortal Kombat co-founder Ed Boon said in a statement, "We're already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future."
Midway has been afflicted by layoffs and studio closures in recent months, and is currently seeking a solution to defaulting on $240 million in debt. A private investor purchased Midway for $100K plus the assumption of $70 million in debt last year.
