Electronic Arts said Wednesday that it is expanding its casual-focused MySims franchise with the addition of new Nintendo Wii and DS titles.
MySims Party and MySims Racing will be available for Nintendo's mass market-friendly hardware later this year. The former is a minigame compilation and the latter is a customizable multiplayer racer.
MySims executive producer Tim LeTourneau said October 2008's MySims and MySims Kingdom were "great successes."
He added, "We believe that MySims Party and MySims Racing, are great ways to couple the creativity and humor players love about the franchise with great multiplayer arcade gameplay.”
The MySims franchise is part of EA's concerted effort to take advantage of the burgeoning so-called "casual" market, particularly the wide-spanning Nintendo audience. EA has also adopted other franchises, namely sports brands, to be more accessible on Nintendo's console.
Before MySims arrived, The Sims had already proven to be a mass market phenomenon, as the franchise has sold over 100 million units since its February 2000 introduction, according to EA.
