Atari Europe will officially become Namco Bandai in the next few weeks.

Japanese publisher Namco Bandai, which bought a 34 percent stake in Atari Europe last March, is expected to acquire the remaining portion of the business from parent Infogrames in the next month.

Atari Europe’s sales and marketing staff will be transferred to the newly formed Distribution Partners, which will handle all Namco Bandai games in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, reports the latest issue of trade magazine MCV.

“We believe that DP will become a wholly-owned Namco Bandai games company soon, but this process requires time and we will comment further when we have an anticipated closing date,” said David Miller, Atari’s European marketing boss.

Following the buyout Atari will become US-only brand. The publisher’s sole HQ will be headed up by current CEO David Gardner.

wow Sony is after atari, well that is what you get when a pubisher loves consoles so much. I would help I know what to do, but not this time. Not after the drm in products.

I know an argrisve take over when I see one. Maybe atari needs money right now and are disperate. High production costs and consoles love fills the air. A publisher that will pay the price either way.

If their super hero MMO works out it might save them. I will give them that much. They are lucky ubisoft didn't get crpytic in indeed.
