A French court has awarded Namco Bandai publishing rights to the Xbox 360 version of CD Projekt's PC RPG The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings.
Namco took action against CD Projekt parent Optimus SA in July, claiming it had secured rights to publish the Xbox 360 release in western Europe, Asia-Pacific and central and south America before the developer announced it would be published by THQ.
The verdict requires that CD Projekt gives Namco Bandai a publishing agreement within 15 days, or face a fine of €15,000 for every day thereafter that it fails to do so. Speaking to Polish news site Parkiet, CD Projekt CEO Marcin Iwinski said he was "not satisfied" with the verdict but was relieved the dispute was over.
The Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2 was delayed, partly due to the publishing dispute, until the first quarter of 2012.
