Content streaming service Netflix, which is currently Xbox 360 console exclusive and only available in the States, could be on its way to other gaming platforms, according to a job posting on the company’s website.
The job advertisement is for an Engineering Leader—Gaming Platforms, and the successful candidate should “expect to help build a small technology team to rapidly prototype and iterate on a variety of platforms.”
The ad continues: “You have years of experience both building and leading the development of games on the current generation gaming consoles. You are familiar with several of those consoles, the technical hurdles associated with them, and the means of navigating those hurdles.”
The news follows recent reports suggesting Netflix had distributed surveys to consumers in a bid to gauge Wii and PS3 owners' interest in its movie and TV content offerings.
Edge-Online has contacted Netflix for comment.
dont know why its JUST avalible in the US!
Sucks balls!
yeah, they would make a ton more cash if they could take it international.
For $8 I get Netflix on my Xbox...which is really cool. I also get it on my TiVo, so I have two units in my house that do the same thing. I have to say that I find the quality of my viewing experiences are better on the Xbox 360. I wish the selection was much wider. It's like going to the video store and searching the "bargain" bin for streaming movies. But it is still a relatively cheap and fast way to watch movies from home. Kudos for MS for making the Xbox 360 an entertainment hub.
Still not personally interested in this but it'd be good for PS3 and Wii owners if true. I wonder if MS will move this from Gold to Silver accounts if it goes multi-platform?
they should do that. I mean its a seperate bill and you are not getting a discount for being a Gold member so it should not be a part of that. I'm sure that would increase their sales on Netflix as well. Not everyone goes beyond silver.
