Bethesda has just announced the development of a new Fallout title, Fallout: New Vegas, at an event in London.
The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 RPG is being developed by Obsidian, the studio behind Alpha Protocol and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II, and won’t be a direct sequel to Fallout 3, according to our man at the event.
In related news, it has emerged that Bethesda filed Fallout trademark applications back in February for "entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program" and for "motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world".
Find out more about one of Obsidian's leading men in part one of our interview with Chris Avellone, who designed Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment.
FUCK THAT!!!
we want KOTOR3!!!
i loved the KOTOR games. they were the dogs bollocks on orginal xbox :)
KOTOR = Knights of the Old Republic
But Fallout: New Vegas could be a massive hit! i loved fallout with teh V.A.T.S system!
You're thinking Bioware, the poor man's Bethesda.
I take it this frees up Bethesda for a return to Elder Scrolls maybe? ...please?
Hell yes! I was seriously concerned about Obsidian making it through the recession (especially after the rumoured Aliens cancellation). Hopefully this will see them through and we'll get another great game from the best RPG dev in the west!
Great news, the boys at Obsidian take their work seriously and make a damn fine sequel.
Just look at Neverwinter 2, to me it knocks the socks off of the original in every way, especially in story, character development, and pacing.
I'm sure they'll take lessons they've learned from making Alpha Protocol and beef up the action and animation in this new Fallout.
