OK to put this to rest once and for all. Here it is honest truth PS3 is by far my favorite system for games online media all that, then 360 and Wii last. 360 is good but for some reason games dnt look as good as on the PS3 and I'm not the only person whose noticed it.
@Iderma- Innovation is perceived differently by different people. Can be gameplay, tweaks, add ons or different ways to tell a story. All in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

MrCarltio's picture

@Nick- Fair enough but as you said being the "leader" in internet gaming no browser is sad considering the Wii as well has it. Heck to my knowledge I can even remote play Hulu from PS3 to PSP via WiFi.
@Indrema- Just because you "try" some new gameplay doesn't make it amazing nothing against Mario Galaxy loved it but from people who whave played Mario 64 and Galaxy they didn't see much innovation. The most innovation they saw was "waggle, twirl, waggle" not very innovative. Honestly haven't touched my Wii in awhile last time was to play a bit of Brawl. Here's the thing its "ideas" that make games great. You don't neccessarily have to change up gameplay to make a game work. It could be a tweak. Take for example Lunar: Dragon Song, game was complete trash. The moment you start running you lose HP. What if they did it as having a sprint meter once the meter runs out you start to lose HP, but if you were to walk you regain MP and the game rewards you to walk and explore what the developers did to create the game and find things. Yet there was plenty more wrong with it in general. That's not really innovative but a tweak to freshin things up, while keeping the basics the same. My point is regardless of this "gameplay innovation" Nintendo comes up with, the story has become stale and stagnant.

NickgamertagO1's picture

Exactly, it's kinda emarrassing that the "online leader" doesn't have something even Nintendo has. And Nintendo is historically behind the online curve. It must have something to do with deals they have with their partners with online content because it can't be hard to add something like that.

Indrema's picture

Well I'm convinced. I can see now that "New Gameplay" techniques are unimportant when you can standardize the input. It's not like the Playstation added Analog, Rumble, or accelerometers after Nintendo or anything.

I'm now part of the MrCarltio Army.

@StealthBadger
I'd love to see a Gray Fox game and honestly for the "mask" ill say this much I've developed a theory revolving around MGS and Snatcher.
*Spoiler* if you haven't played MGS 1-4
I'm thinking that the Patriots plan after Big Boss had died is that these Snatchers which in theory from the Snatcher games, take place of someone in the world after they've been killed off. From what limited knowledge I have of the series. I think Rising is going to be these Snatchers finally rising up after all the original founding members have been killed off. And its "Raidens" job to stop them. I mean Otacons last name is Jewish in origin-theres a Jewish Japanese girl in Snatcher. Hell the Mark II and III are in MGS4 and Snatcher.
Btw Kojima said in that interview that was blurted out "XXXXXX is XXX" I speculate he said "Sntchr is MGS". Leme know what you think.

StealthBadger's picture

@Mrcarltio; yeah, all the speculation is that that guy is grey fox. Rising, Grey fox, big boss? Sounds like prequel time to me!

MrCarltio's picture

UM btw to anyone who cares. That may not be Raiden that's been shown in that pic from the countdown. And possibly not Big Boss. It may not be Raiden because there are brown eyes in the pic Raiden has blue. And as for Big Boss, Kojima did not address him by name as well as he wears the beret on the opposite side from Big Boss from MGS3.

AVA's picture

Hideo Kojima said it was Raiden at the press conference. The guy from MS said after the show that MGS:R is not exclusive.

However , the E3 timetable states that Konami have an x360 title to unveil on Wednesday ...... have you seen the MGS teaser site??? There's a link that takes you to something called the 'mask' site - I have a feeling that may be the exclusive title -not MGS. Maybe it's a new Snatcher game???

I think the picture of Big Boss might have something to do with the new PSP game....???
We'll find out by the end of today , or by tomorrow at the latest ( Sony's conference is today , Konami tomorrow.)

Keeping an eye on twitter :P

Indrema it has nothing to do with my punctuation while I'm at work. Moreover what your claims are you calling Crash 1,2,or 3 bad or clones is straight up insulting. And as for FF13 you clearly missed Versus being Sony exclusive and the superior game from the developers. I have all three systems, and what Live offers is not that much greater than what Sony offers. I'm bringing up the fact that you call a great game a clone, when in reality the only thing Nintendo has ever done with their staple characters is "try" New Gameplay and Rehash the "story". Like I said in my previous post if originality is the name of the game(no pun intended) for you then don't play games. Btw punctuation has nothing to do with logic, but maybe the fact that I'm on a blackberry at work when the posts are written.

Indrema's picture

I'm on an iPhone. No wonder we're not getting along.

"...in reality the only thing Nintendo has ever done with their staple characters is "try" New Gameplay..

Isn't that the most important part about making a game in the first place? I will concede to you on that point, sir. Crash has never insulted me with gameplay innovations.

EDIT: Just so we're clear. You realize I'm refering to this guy, right?
Angry face

BTW - You don't have to use puncuation. It was just hurting my eyes.

OmegaVader's picture

I consider this a slap in the face.

I've long been anticipating MGS4 coming to 360 because the game would need more potential customers than the PS3 base alone to make a healthy profit. What I didn't expect is that they'd just rewrap the same resources into another IP with a character no one liked in the first place (let's get real here; raiden ruined MGS2). So theey make the profit without breaking the exclusivity and shoveling to us 360'ers a character long rejected.

Slap to the face, indeed!

savagehenry's picture

Damn, I thought Raiden was pretty cool in Son's of Liberty and even more so as the kitted out cyborg ninja, Raiden from MGS4. Maybe I was the only one !

Raiden is the only real thread of story in the MGS Saga that hasn't really been properly explained. He popped up in MGS4 to help out Snake but there are years in between Son's of Liberty and the and Snake's Finale. Could this be an area to exploit in terms of plot? Also could we see his origin and the links with Big Boss and L'Enfant Terrible project, if any? I know it's only fan boy speculation but It's very exciting.

My one only really worry is that, if the character is to be Raiden and having seen what abilities he has in that great MGS4 sequence with Vamp. It would be a great shame if his movements are constricted buy the clunky old MGS combat system that we've grown to love over the years.

May be this is what they mean by "A very different Metal Gear game". Either way it's a bit premature to be knocking the main protagonist before we can even see what he can do. I guess we'll have to wait and see..

savagehenry's picture

Controversial!!

Metal Gear to a Microsoft box. Not the first time a part of the Metal Gear Saga has ended up on a something other than playstation.

Is Kojima making this an Xbox360 exclusive? Would it make that much difference is he did? It's not like the 360 console is completely out of reach price wise for the fan boys that desperately want to play it.

Playing devil's advocate a bit here, t's about time that Konami put out an Metal Gear onto a Non-Japanese console, to be fair! All those gamers that Hideo has failed to reach because of format bias.

I suspect a few Sony gamers aren't to please about this, probably start a few flame wars around the internet. But still good news indeed.

More Intriguing though, what is... "Mask"

StealthBadger's picture

Kotaku have the gaesmpress listings here; http://kotaku.com/5274844/metal-gear-solid-rising-destined-for-xbox-360-...

So it's multiplat, and there are 2 new PSP MGS' in the works, as well as a "collection" (presumably 1,2,3) for PS2. Pretty cool.

StealthBadger's picture

I doubt this is Xbox exclusive. MS would have been bashing on about it if it was. I mean, it's not totally impossible that sony have a timed exclusive on it (though i'm obviously doubting it).

And Indrema, I think saying that this is Sony's Sega-plummet moment is a bit of a push, especially considering their presentation is in two days. To utilise maximum hyperbole; Anything could happen!

MrCarltio's picture

Do you realize that you said Crash was a bad Mario clone...hmm wierd when it was under Naughty Dog it was to the point where people were heralding it to be like Mario or better. Dude honestly there are plenty reasons to get a PS3 and not a 360. Question can you do Hulu or Youtube on 360? NO yet that seems to be two of the biggest reasons people use the web browser on the PS3 and hell even the Wii.See I have all 3 consoles and well when I'm working and can't catch Fringe or House r whatever show I'm missing I Hulu it and watch it on my nice sized Samsung 1080p TV. The Micrsoft press conference did not impress. Do you forget FF13 Versus, KH3, Heavy Rain, MAG, GoW3, Uncharted 2, GT. Are PS3 exclusive(for now) Not to mention here's an idea don't play any games considering its all done before so theoretically nothing is original. Don't play Halo because its like Goldeneye. Don't play Splinter Cell because its like MGS. Don't play Crash, Ratchet or Sly, because well they're all Mario "clones". Honestly if your theory is originality is key then here's a wake up call stop playing videogames. Oh I forgot don't play Wii because its a powerglove ripoff from the NES days. Oh here's a question about GTA has gameplay really differed from each release? Indrema what makes 360 so good...I honestly don't see it its nice to have but PS3 is exactly what they said itd be. It will be at the center of your home entertainment. And that it does better than 360.

NickgamertagO1's picture

You can hulu on 360, but not youtube. I do wish there were an internet browser on the 360. For all their claims as being the leader in the online arena (a fair claim) the absence of an internet browser should not be overlooked. How hard would it be for MS to throw in IE with some quicktime or other video applications being pre-loaded? Huge oversight if you ask me especially since Sony has managed to do it already (don't know how well it works though).

Indrema's picture

I'll consider stopping video games when you start using puncuation & paragraph breaks. Seriously, it's a tough read.

Crash better than Mario? Which Mario? Mario 2? You can't mean Mario 64; reviewers were calling it the greatest game ever. My favorite feature over Crash? The ability to turn around. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I didn't mean I didn't play clones; just bad clones. Hulu is pretty cool. I watch it all the time through my HTPC on my LED; so I get why that's exciting. I can also watch Amazon, Netflix & tunes.

- Last thing..Dude! The Power Glove? Did you ever use that thing? And FF13 is not exclusive, & I don't care about the 360. I don't even have one, but Japanese companies were so comitted to snubbing the device that seeing these games on the 360 is a huge deal!

grognard66's picture

I don't think this is 360 exclusive based on the wording. It really doesn't matter though since MS simply wanted to neutralize another traditional Playstation franchise (having already secured GTA, Final Fantasy, Virtua Fighter, Devil May Cry, etc.). The importance of moves like this is to reduce the reasons consumers would potentially consider getting a PS3 rather than a 360 and they have done that consistently.

Personally, I think Kojima is the most over-rated developer in the industry who hasn't made a good game since Metal Gear Solid, so I could care less.

MrCarltio's picture

UH this Indrema person is seriously questioning if Sony has any exclusives left. Can I pose a question for you does Microsoft ever create a new IP not really on the 360 Gears of War was created...and ummmm well I can't really think of anymore(sarcasm). Here's a question that you might answer have you noticed that every generation for Sony there inhouse studios create new IP's ie PS1 Crash, PS2 Gow, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank,Sly Cooper, PS3 inFamous, Resistance, Killzone2, MLB the Show series for all Sony platsforms. So honestly its still Sonys show to lose. I will laugh when I see this Raiden(mr I'm a Gray Fox rip off) get his own MGS Game RPG style is at Sonys press conference. If not oh well. And btw as someone who had his hands 4days early on inFAMOUS I'm already on my 2nd play through as EVIL Cole. inFAMOUS completely tore any open world sandbox game to shreds. For those who don't believe me add me on PSN and check my Trophies for inFAMOUS (FuriousRedeemer).

Indrema's picture

Awesome!

Let me give you my perspective. When I heard Microsoft was making a console, I was like, "f*cking Microsoft? -whatever....but somehow they keep stealing these exclusive Sony titles.

I should've been more specific. I'm talking about 3rd-party titles. I liked the PSONR a lot, but come on! Crash, Rachet, & & Sly? Don't start with bad "Mario-clones". I was wondering if Sony fans were nervous, and calling Metal Gear a joke & GTA irrelavent really seals it.

Keep up the good fight!

TheRealClickBoomDead's picture

I don't understand why you'd make a 'brand exclusive' title?. Aren't you knocking out at least half of the title's potential. You're only really hurting yourself, as a developer. I liked MSG when it came out on the PS but ended up with the Xbox Elite. I'm not gonna buy a PS3 just for one game.....or vice versa, if that's how it ends up.

AVA's picture

It's not exclusive , the guy from MS said so after the show - but it's highly likely MGS will be multi plat from now on ( esp after the problems Konami had with Sony with MGS4.)

Indrema's picture

Metal Gear!... OMG!

Does Sony have any real exclusives left? What's next? Tekken? The PS3 is starting to look like a sinking ship. Time to buy some popcorn & wait for the infomercials. "3 Cores? We have 7 Cores! Do The Math!

It's too bad it already has a disc-drive & now slot to fit an expansion upgrade. How the Hell do they expect to spin-out into the add-on/upgrade embarassment that companies in this postion become?

Looking at the last days of Segs, I guess it might be possible to spin-off your technology into other non-gaming electronics in a desperate attempt to recoup costs & generate "Buzz".....Oh wait a minute -

AVA's picture

Tekken 6 is coming to X360 as well, they announced that at E3 last year!

Trico on the PS3 looks good, + I really do like Yakuza3!
GOW3 and Heavy rain look ok -but I'm really not that keen on QTE's anymore.

GiobbiT's picture

They said "everything after this point is exclusive", so it is exclusive to xb360.

Tony Hawk, modern warfare and FFXIII :) aren't but the rest from the epic xla game is exclusive.

AVA's picture

Really ? cool! ( my connection was lagging - kinda missed bits.)
So does that mean 8 exclusives - MGS:R , Forza3, Crackdown2, Splinter Cell, Halo ODST + Reach, that Metroid type game (Shadow.... somethin' ) LFD2, Alan Wake looked pretty good too!

Only....... no Rare , what gives? I still want Perfect Dark on xbla!!!

GiobbiT's picture

Really.
Anyway maybe Microsoft played it not completely fair:

http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/696050/Metal-Gear-Solid-Rising-Not-Exc...

AVA's picture

I don't think anyone mentioned it as exclusive during the conference - but the Konami schedule for E3 mentions an exclusive X360game - is this it????

I gotta admit it was a big surprise - I expected Kojima to make something new for the 360 - but I guess he has - in a way , it's a spin-off to the MGS series.

Ivor_Biguns's picture

There is no mention of exclusivity. Usually if a game is exclusive to Xbox MS make damn sure everyone knows it. We shall see. Fair play to Kojima though. He said MGS4 was only for Playstation and he kept his word despite what must have been huge pressure from MS. If he wants to make something new for Xbox then fair play to him.

NickgamertagO1's picture

Well said.

AVA's picture

Yeah , I guess you're right.

It wouldn'y make sense to make the game exclusive as it would alienate the pre-existing fanbase who all bought MGS4.

More MGS is good news in my books!

I wonder what the 'mask' teaser site -linked to the MGS teaser site is about , ZOE3 , a new Snatcher???
We might find out tomorrow....!

Hawko's picture

Multiplatfrom is the only way to go, anyway. Brilliant, a great conference by Microsoft this one.

toadwarrior's picture

May guess is it'll be half assed. So it won't be an exclusive be A) MS won't pay for it and B) Konami will need to maximise profits.

Barla Von's picture

It's interesting that MS weren't banging on about exclusivity. Multiplatform indeed!

NickgamertagO1's picture

Is this particular game multiplatform as well? It sounds like it's 360-only, but I might be misled by the article.

Barla Von's picture

The game was serperate from the "exclusive" titles shown.

In my opinion the franchise is over-rated. I'm not a fan of the Metal Gear games at all. There's better games out there to play.

The New Splinter Cell looked great though.
