Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced a number of new content partners for its PS3 and PSP video on demand service.

Lucasfilm, Cinetic FilmBuff, ContentFilm International, Image Entertainment, MPI Media Group and New Video have all signed up to provide content.

New offerings include films The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Powder Blue and Management, and TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Leverage.

“PlayStation Network now boasts the most content of any downloadable video delivery service through a videogame console available today,” Sony said in a statement, noting that it now has 40 studio and network content partners.

According to the company, the PSN video store houses over 10,000 hours of downloadable content, including 2,300 movies and more than 14,000 TV shows.

Additionally, Sony said that video store downloads increased by over 100 per cent in September 2009 when compared to September 2008.

The video on demand service launched in the US in July 2008 and is expected debut in the UK, France, Germany and Spain later this month before being rolled out to other European territories in 2010.
