Nintendo has revealed it will be launching a set of downloadable WarioWare games for the company’s newest handheld, the DSi.
Following Nintendo’s recent financial report, company president Satoru Iwata revealed that the DSi’s new hardware and connectivity features will be showcased with a collection of WarioWare titles that can be downloaded from the DSiWare store.
WarioWare: Photograph, for example, will feature familiar WarioWare antics with a focus on the DSi’s new camera in what presumably will be in the flavour of the EyeToy games. As well as this, Nintendo says that a series of WarioWare minigames from previous titles will also be available for download from the DSi store.
It’s not the first time that Nintendo’s antihero has launched early with a new Nintendo console to show off its new features. WarioWare Touched was a frequent showpiece at demo pods in retail outlets, emphasising DS’s touchscreen capabilities. The Wii’s WarioWare Smooth Moves, meanwhile, featured a large number of minigames that catalogued nearly everything a Wii Remote could do.
Meanwhile, those who are a little cold on buying a new iteration of the DSi will have the option to buy WarioWare: Myself for the DS. Myself is said to be a selection of minigames built around the central feature of allowing players to construct their own and share with other DS or DSi users.
WarioWare: Photograph is scheduled for release in Japan by December, around the same time that the DSiWare store goes live.
