The new Xbox 360 has enjoyed a strong debut in the UK, according to sales monitor GfK Chart-Track.
Microsoft's system achieved the biggest domestic release for a revised home console, surpassing the launches of PS2 Slim and PS3 Slim.
While specific figures weren’t released, Chart-Track said that in two days it recorded around the same as the original Xbox 360's launch sales total back in 2005.
It was a good week for Microsoft, with Crackdown 2 retaining the top spot on the UK all formats chart.
US sales tracker the NPD Group also said on Friday that Xbox 360 was the top selling home console in the States during June, overtaking Wii. The new 360 – which launched in America last month – is thought to have accounted for 40 per cent of the system’s monthly sales, with discounted older models making up the remainder.
