Wizards sponsoring D&D Day… Ubisoft to publish Paradise… Missing makes million mark… MTV to broadcast CPL World Tour Finals…
November 5th has been declared Dungeons &
Dragons day by brand owner, Wizards of the Coast. The promotion is
aimed at bringing thousands of role players into toy and hobby stores
to "flex their imaginations". Last year, the event had more than 25,000
gamers "flexing". Wizards is predicting even greater turnout this
year.

Developed by Benoit Sokal (of
Syberia fame) and White Bird Productions, a new point and click
adventure called Paradise will be published by Ubisoft on PC. The game
will arrive at retail in February 2006.

More
than 1 million kids have now downloaded the Missing game, helping to
fight against online predators. "With over 200,000 predators on the
Internet searching for their next victim, it's critically important to
reach our children with safety messages that can keep them away from
danger," said Judi Westberg Warren, president of Web Wise Kids, the
game's distributor. The FBI estimates that there are 77 million
children online in the U.S. and fully 20% of those have been sexually
solicited on the Internet.

The million world tour finals will happen at the Nokia theatre in Times Square on November 22nd
(the same day as the Xbox 360 launch coincidentally). MTV will air the
finals on MTV Overdrive, a broadband video channel on MTV.com.
"Videogames have become a key driver behind today's pop culture and we
are excited to embrace the new frontier of professional competition in
bringing the head-to-head action to our audience," said Salli Frattini,
Senior Vice President for MTV Networks. Not quite the same as having it
on the "real" MTV though, is it? Still, it's a start.
