Slightly Mad Studios, the team responsible for Need For Speed Shift and its sequel, has announced its latest project, C.A.R.S.
An acronym for Community Assisted Racing Simulation, the game is being developed via the "crowd-sourcing meets crowd-funding platform" WMD (World of Mass Development).
WMD also launched today and "enables fans, enthusiasts and other members of the public to contribute to the development of upcoming titles by working on them or providing funding – or both – whilst getting to enjoy the game whilst it is being built. What is more, when the game is released all those who worked on the game will earn a share of the revenues earned."
Interested parties can now join the WMD network which is designed to help developers connect with their audiences more easily.
"WMD transforms the way games are created," says WMD head Ian Bell. "By connecting the creators with the players rather than the publishers, traditional overheads and a focus on release windows/financial quarters/marketing etc. shifts back to concentrating on making great games that people want to play whilst still getting proper QA and funding."
C.A.R.S. allows groups of players to create racing teams then co-operatively compete against other players, and includes multiple game modes which cover a wide range of motorsports.
