Nintendo: 6 mln DS Sold So Far in ’07
Citing internal figures, Nintendo of America projected Tuesday that the DS will be the top-selling gaming platform of the year.
Redmond, Wash.-based Nintendo of America said that over 6 million DS hardware units have sold in the US through November 30.
“There’s no letup in sight,” said Nintendo of America sr. marketing VP George Harrison.
Nintendo recently announced that the DS broke the Game Boy Advance’s previous Thanksgiving week record, selling 650,000 units in the US compared to the GBA’s former standard of 600,000, set in 2005.
Nintendo said that four DS games have sold over 2 million units in the US, including New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Pokemon Diamond and Super Mario 64 DS. Eight games have sold a million, including Brain Age, Pokemon Pearl, Animal Crossing: Wild World, Big Brain Academy and four different versions of Nintendogs.
