Nintendo of America announced Wednesday that it has settled a patent infringement lawsuit that it brought to peripheral maker Nyko Technologies regarding the design of a wireless nunchuck remote for Wii.
Nyko agreed that it would sell a redesigned version of its Kama wireless controller. (Original Kama pictured.)
Nintendo currently offers no wireless nunchuck solution of its own, but said in its June 2008 complaint that Nyko's design nevertheless "wholly appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo nunchuck controller."
Nintendo was seeking an injunction on sales of the Kama controller and cash compensation.
Nintendo of America head Reggie Fils-Aime said, “We are pleased to have resolved this dispute. The Nunchuk and Wii brands are familiar to consumers worldwide, and Nintendo is dedicated to vigorous defense of those brands.”
I have two KAMA nunchucks and I love it!!
The freedom is amazing!!
I don't understand why some gamers say the KAMA nunchuck is inacurate!!
Well, I waiting so much when Nintendo launches the MOTION PLUS to combine with my KAMA nunchucks!!
KUDOS Nyko!!
Glad to see Nyko's still going to be manufacturing wireless nunchuks. Honestly, it's about time Nintendo announced their own wireless solution for the people who want one.
