Nintendo is planning to boost its focus on the Latin American market with an aggressive Spanish marketing campaign that will likely launch this side of the Christmas season and focus on sports and fitness games.

According to Reuters, the company believes the region's videogame market could be worth $2 billion in 2008.

"The long-term economic potential of Latin America makes this an extremely important market for videogames," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

"Nintendo has experienced phenomenal growth in the region over the past few years, growth that has even surpassed what we have seen in the United States."
