A US district court judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought against Nintendo by Guardian Media Technologies.
The company had alleged that Nintendo’s Wii infringed upon its 1988 patent for a Selective Video Playing System. Among other things, the technology can be applied as a parental control mechanism that allows parents to block children from viewing recordings without permission.
“We are very pleased with the court’s decision,” said Rick Flamm, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of legal and general counsel.
“Nintendo vigorously defends patent lawsuits. At the earliest stages of this case, Nintendo convinced the court to dismiss this case as Guardian’s patent had nothing to do with Nintendo’s products.”
The patent trolls just aren't letting up, are they?
